The next monthly meeting, on June 17th, is at Earl Soham Victoria. On July 15th, we go to Bildeston Kings Head and, on August 19th, Henley Cross Keys. In September, there's a quarterly meeting at HQ - Rattlesden Five Bells - on Thursday 2nd and a monthly meeting at Buxhall Crown on Thursday 16th. At all evening meetings, we try to get to the pub by 8:30pm.
The Veteran-Cycle Club 'Flat Section' meets at The Scole Inn (though the August meeting is usually somewhere different) on the last Monday of each month. They gather between 7:00pm and 7:30pm after which they pedal off for a mere five-mile saunter to a more suitable pub - usually Rushall Half Moon or Hoxne Swan. Make a 'phone call to Cally on 01986 784664 if you want to know more.
Brettenham Village Hall has a bar open on the first Friday evening of each month and we ride over there.
The exception is the July opening, which will be on the second Friday: July 9th. We don't know the reason for the change of date but it suits us because, otherwise, it would have clashed with Stowmarket Beer Festival.

As reported in the previous Dagworth Wheeler, we had the idea of getting some 25th Anniversary commemorative sweatshirts and asked if any of you would be interested in having one. Guess how many replies we had ... one.
That put paid to that idea.
Never mind, we've thought of something else instead. This one is particularly cunning as it has no setting up costs and no minimum quantity so, even if only one of you wants one we can just produce that one. And what are these mystery items? They're leather tool bags. There's a choice of two styles: a triangular bag to hang on the frame or the traditional type that fits on the saddle. The flap has D&DGCS and the dates 1985-2010 embossed on it. At only £10, the cost is heavily subsidised, so the offer is limited to one bag per member. However, if you do want more that one, additional bags can be ordered at £25 each.

The bags can be ordered from the Social Secretary at 7 Unity Road Stowmarket, IP14 1AS. If you're paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Dagworth & District G C S".

There will be a V-CC West Suffolk Trundle is on 11th July.

Our informant tells us that the plan will be to gather at David Bradbury's home: Cherrygate House, Hopton (TL994790) from 10:00am for signing on and some elevenses before an 11:00am departure. The lunch stop will be at the Dun Cow, Bardwell (pub lunches must be pre-booked by ringing the pub on 01359 250806).
Any queries should be addressed to Ted Ashton on 01284 754993, or David Bradbury on 01953 681470 and David can be e-mailed at
...is on Sunday 29th August. Just like the last three years, groups of riders will assemble at various points in East Anglia and they will head toward the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway at Brockford for an afternoon of beer drinking and train spotting. The Middy has a Rail'n'Ale Event on this day, and it's a Steam Day too.
There will be a D&DGCS starting point in Stowmarket, picking up at Stowupland en route. The Cambridge Section of the V-CC has a starting point in Great Ashfield, Chickering Cycling Circle from Horham. Diss is the starting point for the V-CC Flat Section team, Choppy Warburton Fan Club and Diss & District CC.
More details and suggestions for starting points can be had from Ian Maddams on 01799 525084 or Pete Stanners on 01359 241904.
The August Bank Holiday weekend is also the weekend of Mildenhall Rally and the jumble is on Saturday.
